Death of Love parade

This word Love is appended to many activities that try to promote good values like peace, compassion, respect etc. but in reality these activities just become ordinary public debauchery.
It’s bad that 19 young people died and few hundreds were injured. Whom to blame for such a disaster?
Some say that organizers are guilty because they have chosen the wrong place for festival, a former railway station where the main access was a 200-meter-long and 30-meter-wide tunnel. The tunnel seemed to be unsafe for the large number of participants, estimated at more than 1.4 million. Others blame police and city officials.
But from other point of view, the main reason of what happened is the dangerous human nature reaction – panic. Why panic? Isn’t it a love parade that celebrates love? Does the brother crush his sister only to get to the surface? Does the loving person push away the beloved one only to stay alive? No, I don’t think so; one will give his life for other to remain alive! Because there is no bigger love, than to give your life for the ones you love.
If the parade was promoting the love, the tragedy would never have happened. In fact, it promoted leisure, dance, and we have to admit - drugs. The most important for the human flock was to get near DJ to feel the trance, than to wait with calm the opening of the gates. Instead, they pressed and pressed until several persons started to cry, others fell unconscious, the heat was great, many started to climb on the walls to get out, fear was rising and the flock panicked. You can only imagine such a moment.
That is human nature, you can’t change it! Fear is just a survival instinct that overcomes any superior feeling like love, compassion, respect.
If this is right, then we are just animals! No, intelligent animals! Yet, animals!
After they were born, animals eat, grow, learn to survive, to fight for food, for territory and for females, and then die. During life cycle, animals don’t create anything beside their nests.
After birth, man eats, grows, and learns to walk, to communicate, to read, and to write. Then he starts to work for living, gets married, makes children, builds or buys a house etc., etc., etc. then dies.
Well, humans have a more complex live cycle than ordinary animals. The main difference between human being and animals is the ability to create something new. Man can create tools to work more productively, build cars, airplanes, rockets but also write poems, songs, laws, study the universe, and launch science theories.
In the same time man can be very destructive making wars, polluting environment, cutting forests and killing animals.
We have a great power to control the nature around us, but we don’t even try to rule our interior nature.
We promote good morality, but our actions show the contrary.
We promote love for the neighbour but we reject the poor.
We promote love in family but more and more people divorce soon after getting married.
We promote free love between classes and races but this became free sex for everyone.
We promote free market but this is the same as “jungle law” - survives the most powerful.
Till now it’s clear that beside the ability to create we behave like animals – we fight for territory and food, we make children and leave them alone, we survive if we have power, and if not then we become beggars.
What to do then? Human nature is unchangeable?
We must avoid to do bad and think only about ourselves. We are linked to each other; society is made of its members. If members don’t exist then society doesn’t exist.
Referring to the Duisburg disaster and many more situations when people get killed because of mass panic, solution exists.
People must be educated and trained to control their fear. We must get above the animal instinct and be ready to help each other in bad moments.
I am glad to hear a voice claiming that during the crush in the tunnel, overall, young participants tried to help each over. Let’s say this is a good start. Yet, there is much work to do.
We must abandon celebrations that are full of debauchery. Instead it would be a good thing to organize mass gatherings where participants would exchange ideas how to make the world better.
These gathering could be good at finding reliable solutions to human society problems.
